Person In Bed Sensor (PIBS)

The aim of the person in bed sensor is to detect if elderly or disabled people are in the bed. A inductive proximity sensor detects the movement of the springs. The strength of the springs can be selected to get two different behaviors:

With strong springs and an analog proximity sensor, a signal proportional to the weight (and position) of the person in the bed can be detected.

With weak springs and a digital proximity sensor (or a micro switch), a digital signal telling if a person is in bed or not is produced.
