htdig

Htdig is a search engine as http://www.google.com but targeted for selected web pages or servers as your own and your friends. It is not a pure web application since it does not run entirely on the web server. It has its cgi under /var/www/localhost/cgi-bin plus additional files installed on the system. It uses a database under /var/lib/htdig and has its configuration under /etc/htdig/htdig.conf. To have something being found on your web pages add your web page as http://www.linurs.org to this config file and run rundig to build the database. Then use its search application http://localhost/htdig/search.html.

The database does not update itself automatically, so rundig must be called automatically this can be done best by a cron job.

KDE's help center khelpcenter makes use of htdig.
